Create a traditional Saudi mural

LED-Al-Qatt-Al-Asiri-

KAUST community members are invited to attend a workshop hosted by Al-Faisalya Society’s SLEYSLA project.

You will have the opportunity to learn about Al Qatt Al Asiri, a traditional decorating design from the Asir region in south west Saudi Arabia, historically practiced solely by women and recently recognized by UNESCO as an important ancient art form.  Workshop participants will explore the techniques used to create the boldly colored patterns of geometric shapes and symbols on a mural wall and have the chance to create their own design on a small canvas.
