Student Intern Opportunities at KAUST for YLDP Students

WISE Logo 2020

WISE – short for Work Internship and Student Experience - is an opportunity for current Grade10-12 TKS students, and university students visiting their KAUST resident parents, to take internship positions within departments across the University for four weeks each summer.  WISE 2020 is the second year that Social Responsibility has invited external participants, current and former students from KAUST’s Young Learners Development Program, joining their peers from the KAUST community.

The internship introduces high school and undergraduate students to a professional environment, offering a chance to explore areas of interest that might be relevant to their further study and career ambitions.  The Social Responsibility interns will be supporting the Science Summer School 2020 [insert link] working with elementary, intermediate and high school students from schools in Jeddah as well as the University’s neighbouring communities of Thuwal, Qadimah and Saabr.

WISE is always challenging, but of course the covid crisis of 2020 has added an extra level of difficulty by diverting all aspects of the internship to a virtual environment.  Our interns will be joining online activities, working with KAUST faculty and graduate students as they deliver science-based workshops, lectures and events, while also motivating and supporting our Summer School students.  As well as providing a vital assisting role, interns will be tasked with creating their own activities for Summer School, as part of developing their creative processes, presentation and leadership skills.

So – welcome to Faiza, Ibrahim, Jehad, Madiba, Majed, Matilde, Naga, Nouf, Samar, Shomukh and Sultan.  The Social Responsibility department is delighted you have chosen to join us for this exciting and innovative WISE 2020.
