Celebrating with our Neighbors

Social Responsibilities' Sharing is Caring campaign was larger than ever this year. Expanding to serve community members in towns and villages in the Jeddah region from Thuwal and Qadimah to Dahban and Jeddah, the campaign also attracted greater support from the Jeddah governate with additional collaborations with outside entities.

This is the 6th year Social Responsibility has organized Sharing is Caring to celebrate the Ramadan and Eid Al – Fitr Season with our neighbors. During the campaign, a record 2000 gift boxes were distributed, 312 volunteers got involved and 130 greeting cards were collected from the KAUST community specifically for people in Thuwal.

KAUST community members wrote messages on cards which were then collected and displayed on an illuminated lantern that lit up Discovery Square for two weeks, creating a wonderful reminder of both our neighbors and the season.

As part of the KAUST Volunteering Program, an enthusiastic group of volunteers from the community which included students from The KAUST School, participated in the packing and assembly of around 6,400 food items and 200 boxes.

As part of the Al-Jar (neighbor) Program, the Sharing is Caring campaign represents  one of the many ways in which KAUST gives back, and at the same time, brings together the KAUST community to share the joys of the season with our neighbors during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.
