It is the tenth year of our Back to School Campaign and things took a different turn in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In an initiative which benefitted 800 students, 200 teachers and admin staff, across 6 Thuwal schools, KAUST provided personal protective equipment, sanitizing kits, and guidance in order for students and teachers to return to school safely.
Social distancing signage, temperature assessment devices and sanitizing stations along with all the necessary training made up this year’s unusual campaign to support our neighboring schools in moving forward to a ‘new’ normal.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved, Social Responsibility followed guidelines from school leaders to minimize the number of visitors into the schools, and refrained from using volunteers. In their place, three KAUST representatives attended and we appreciate their support.
