KAUST-Nesma Embroidery Factory

Nesma Holdings has created a non-profit organization with a mission to provide secure productive sustainable employment for local women in embroidery centers across the Kingdom. A joint venture agreement was signed with KAUST to provide Nesma's third factory, located in Thuwal.

More than 200 women from Thuwal and Qadimah attended interview sessions at KAUST, held by a committee from Nesma and KAUST Social Responsibility.  Successful candidates underwent comprehensive training, including pattern-cutting, sewing, embroidery, machine operation, logistics and managment.

The hiring process for the factory inspired a range of initiatives to improve local employment prospects and recruitment practices including CV Writing Training, the development of an Employment Hub and the instigation of the Saudi Talent and Retention (STAR) Program.
