Back to School Project

KAUST-170918-BTS
The annual Back to School Project was launched in 2012, as part of the Young Learners’ Development Program, devised and managed by the Social Responsibility department.  From its initial support of 522 bags, the project has since delivered bags and stationery supplies to nearly 4500 students.  Feedback from each campaign has informed the evolution of the project, year on year.  It is a huge undertaking, involving hours of planning and logistics and the essential support of our volunteers, staff and sponsors.  The simple aim of the initiative is to improve learning environments and educational outcomes for children in our neighboring schools but the benefits far exceed this modest ambition.  When we work as partners with our local community, our joint objective is to ensure the needs of the children are being met ‘for maximum impact in the classroom and beyond’ and both communities gain.  Our volunteers have the opportunity to engage with the community that we are guests in, our students learn more about the world that they share, relationships are built and knowledge enhanced.
